Step 1 Leading-in
What’s the date today? It’s in December now. Christmas is coming. And I want to
have a Christmas party. What do I need for a Christmas party?
1. Give a picture of some bread: Do I need any bread?
2. Give a picture of some fruit and drinks. ( To lead students to use I need some...)
3. Maybe I also need some paper cups. Teach: paper cups
Step 2 Presentation & Practice
A: Students in SunshineMiddle School plan to have a Christmas too.
1. Now, let’s look at this picture. Does Kitty need to buy any food for the party?
( To lead students to answer: Yes, she does. She needs to buy some food.) But, what happens?
2. Show another picture: Does Kitty have any money? ( To lead them to answer that she
doesn’t have any money.)
3. Kitty needs to buy some food, but she doesn’t has any money. Let’s look at Millie
and Daniel. They are talking about what to buy for the party. Can you use “some” or “any”
to complete their conversation? ( SB. P85, on the slide)
4. What do you know about them now? Do they have differences? Choose some students
to say something about it. Then to show the similarities and differences on the slide.
5. To show “ some” in questions when we are making offers and requests.
B: I need to buy some food for the party too. Please look at the things on the table.
1. What’s on the table?( To lead students to use “ there be” to answer this
question.)
2. To show some questions to present “ Is there...” and “ Are there..” structure.
And lead them to answer “ Yes, there is/are” or “ No, there isn’t/ aren’t”
3. To use “ there be” to make dialogues.
4. Let some students to conclude the rules of “ there be” in negative sentences
and questions.
5. Millie is writing about shops around her school. Please help her complete her
article with the correct forms of “ there be” ( SB. P86, on the slide)
